Orioles - Bird Identification   1  2  

Once grouped together with the Baltimore as the Northern Oriole. Males have a bright orange-yellow body with black crown and eyeline. Females weave sack-like nests that hang from the drooping branches of tall trees.

 

Common to the southwest. Found in joshua trees, junipers and yuccas. Only adult male in it's area that is black and yellow. Female similar to the Orchard and Hooded Oriole but with a streaked back.

 

Transplanted to Florida from South America. Both the male and female have black spots on the sides of the breast and a black tail. Song is louder and more varied than other orioles.
